Closing date for taking part...

Due to an extremely high level of interest, applications for taking part in the expedition will close on Saturday 14th April 2012.

Training

Leading up to the expedition the team will undergo several training climbs to ensure they are at the required level of skill and fitness which will provide the best chance of success. As individuals each team member will already be an experienced mountaineer, the training climbs described below are designed to bond the members together so that they work efficiently and smoothly while in the mountains.

Phase 1

Summer 2012 - UK

The first phase of the training will involve the team getting to know each other through several hillwalks and summer rock climbs. Each members fitness and climbing skills will be observed as well as their ability to work as part of a team.

Phase 2

Winter 2012/13 - UK

The teams winter skills will be put to the test in the Scottish Highlands during the first winter phase of training. Long winter walks, mixed rock and ice climbs and if possible pure ice routes will be carried out.

Phase 3

Summer 2013 - Alps

By this time the team members will know each other well and will be working efficiently together as a team. Their skills will be put to the test on a trip to the high Alps via several big multi-pitch routes.

Phase 4

Winter 2013/14 - Alps/Norway

The final phase of the training will allow the team members to test their warm clothing and equipment during a winter in the Alps or Norway. Following this trip the team will be ready for the 8000m challenge.
